Job Description and Expectations
Reporting Structure: The Lead Life Coach reports directly to the Coordinator.
Performance Agreement: The Wayne Township Adult Education (WTAE) Life Coach will perform all aspects of the communicated job description. This employee will effectively meet the performance expectations of the MSD of Wayne Township. Formal performance evaluation will be conducted annually.
Purpose: To provide services to aid student success in curriculum, track and address barriers and attendance, serve as a liaison to community resources, accommodations, career assessments, and continue onto post-secondary schooling or careers.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
DOMAIN I: ASSISTING STUDENTS WITH REGISTRATION AND ORIENTATION
- Oversees life coaches weekly instructional and coaching duties.
- Engage students around setting goals around initial ALP before enrollment
- Review student testing and monitoring for accommodations and remediation needs
- Ensures cutting edge resumes are built and marketed to businesses in the industry.
- Provides training leadership on counselor role for emergencies and Red Book drills
DOMAIN II: COACH AND CLASSROOM SUPPORT
- Reviews barrier identification, referrals, and solutions and ensures issues are resolved;
- Address professionalism expectations with students
- Visits Career Training classes weekly to ensure seamless connection with faculty.
- Build success plans for employability
- Provide accommodations and educational support through IEP and 504 conferences and planning
- Conduct academic reviews for students prior to testing
- Works to have 5-7 industry connections to help students achieve jobs.
DOMAIN III- COMMUNITY RESOURCES
- Assist with maintaining and expanding adulted.info/lc website with 25 defined services including; housing, food, income, health, child care, additions, mental health, legal support, transportations, disabilities, immigration, and employment;
- Coordinate and schedule school-wide community resource fairs with community agencies;
- Provide engagement events such as coat drives, food drives, volunteer opportunities, and other ways of giving back to the community;
- Organize the coaching team to attend Community Leader Luncheon, Guidance Counselor, Fall Conferences, Backpack Events, LAP, JAG, IWC, COIN, Latino Resource Fair, Shalom, and Back to School Nights
- Quarterly a Life Coaching Corner newsletters is sent with featured success stories, post secondary, career training, and barrier resources - links to our pages.
DOMAIN IV: STUDENT SUPPORT
- Offer emotional and personal support for students in need
- Reinforcement of employability and life skills
- Maintain accurate and confidential records to be shared only with Lead Coach or Coordinator
- Partner with ES Supervisor to create a Students4Hire pages with professional headshots, resumes, assist with job applications, and practice interviewing skills
- Capture achievements in Connectable; citizenship, employment, post secondary, promotions, military, apprenticeship, etc.
- Assist with professional appointments, credential evaluation, translated resources, college applications, fafsa and documents;
- Adminsiters weekly Connectable data entry assignments.
- Connect students with Ivy Tech or other post secondary advancement in education
- Immediately share and document issues with abuse, harassment, and concerns with the Coordinator.
- Assist with drills and emergencies per the drill
- Support monthly Student Ambassador Program and Council
DOMAIN V: WAYNE COMMUNITY/CLASSROOM CULTURE
- Builds professional associations with industry conferences and networking
- Advocate for and display cultural competency and equity
- Ensure a positive culture and environment
- Exude professionalism and enthusiasm
- Collaborate and proactively communicate with colleagues for a successful team
- Attend all Professional Development and Coaching meetings.
